This cake was created for a wedding shower. The bride’s colors were black and white. The hostesses of the shower decided on a polka dot theme.
The cake is three tiers, and each tier is 4 layers of my Vanilla Dream cake with homemade vanilla buttercream filling. After icing, each tier was covered with white fondant and rimmed with a black fondant ribbon. Black and white fondant dot cut outs were affixed with buttercream icing as accents.
The bride and grooms names both start with a “C” – so I used a take-off of the Chanel logo as a topper. Great idea from the party hostess!
The third tier was separated by Wilton’s new fillable towers, filled with black and white M&Ms. I had the top tier on a Wilton plastic 8″ separator plate. I made a white fondant “tablecloth” to drape over the plate to hide the plastic and give it a bit of elegance.
The bottom two tiers were delivered already assembled and the pillars and top tier were assembled onsite.
